Clean sound from the exhaust system

Exceptional care has been taken to ensure a clean exhaust. The 165 kW 1.8 T has a secondary air pump attached to the engine which helps to ensure that current emission limits are complied with. Fresh air is taken directly from the air cleaner and pumped into the exhaust ports, where a post-combustion process occurs. the energy which this releases heats the catalytic converter, so that even shortly after the engine has been started a high level of emission control efficiency is reached.

Both of the engines available in the TT Coupé qualify as low-emission units according to EU III D.

Those who drive a sports car know that all the senses are stimulated. For this reason Audi's development staff undertook a multi-stage "sound tuning" process to ensure that the TT's power is communicated to the listener in a convincing way. The result is an unmistakably dynamic sound which could never be regarded as excessive, unpleasant or simply "loud".

Whereas the Top TT with 165 kW can be recognised by its two distinctive tailpipes, the 132 kW versions possess a single tailpipe.
