The other day I noticed a strange noise from the car, followed by heavy vibration, it only lasted a few seconds, then seemed to disappear.
This morning I was taking my son home, when I came to a red light, and hit the brakes---nothing!
I had to stand on the pedal, and ended up half way into the junction. My first thought was servo failure, but when I got home and checked, I found the servo hose, not only split at the servo, but at the other end too!
My cars a 99 180Q--I would urge you all to have a quick look at your hoses, just to be on the safe side. As I make hoses for a living. I am doing a temp repair till I get it to the dealers. Here are some pics---

well spotted! haven't heard any other reports of this yet, so here's hoping its not a general problem, and simply a badly made hose on your car......

strange place to leave your keys tho. you might have slammed the bonnet down and forgotten, locking the keys in the engine bay :) came very close to doing that in my boot one day!

I've also just found the pipe to be cracked at the centre joint---just under the D/Valve!

Glad you're OK ~ that could have been nasty. Do I take it that because of where the pipe failed that you lost all servo power?

Does anyone do a proper braided hose kit for the TT?

PS ~ what wheels are you running now?

Nick,
Yes all servo assist goes when the pipe detached, if you want to see what its like, sit on a slope, and with the engine off, pump the brakes till they go hard, then freewheel down the slope and try stopping---you'll see what I mean.
still got the Kahn RSS's
