2002 TTC Service Schedule Document
The following pages are taken from a 2002 225 TTC service manual for your information.

This is my personal perception of the manual entries, if you see any errors or have any comments to make please let me know.

Note:- The timing Belt and tensioner replacements are mentioned as possibly being needed sooner for certain models, I have assumed the manual is correct but will check with Audi to confirm, although I have knocked the 115k interval down to 80k miles as it seems high to me anyway.

2 optional service intervals can be set into the car, Fixed interval of 10000 miles or AVS which is a maximum of 24 months or 20000 miles, AVS mileage determination is ecu controlled and lets the car decide when it needs servicing.

Service Procedures...

AVS Service procedure details (as I see them!) :o) assuming you do 20000 miles every 2 years
at 1st 20000mile service (20k or 2years)

The "Real World" mileage of AVS services is between 17000 and 19000 miles for a motorway cruised car...how you approach servicing, as its not entirely a whole 20K, is up to you but bear in mind if you miss a 20k process because you didn't want it done at 19k, you will either have to return sooner to get it done or risk invalidating a warranty claim if the item was missed when you did reach the 20k mileage and didn't get it done.

TIMING BELT COMPONENTS

The Timing belt not only maintains crank and cam synchronisation but it also drives the water pump.
as this is not a simple job to get to it is probably advisable to change the water pump while doing a timing belt change.

Timing belt change kit should include:-

  • OEM timing belt made by Continental

  • OE tensioner Roller made by Ruville in Germany

  • OEM tensioner assembly made by Ruville in Germany

  • OE Idler roller (comes on the tensioner assembly)

  • Hepu water pump with metal impeller

  • Accessory drive belt

  • Thermostat (Wahler)

UPDATE- This is a water pump from a 27000 mile car...

The Metal/plastic construction seems very poor to me I would suggest this should should be changed every time a Cam belt service is done.
