04/2004 a new TT products supplier has appeared with a new range of products in either Stainless steel or polished aluminium or a plate effect that they call Pearlon.

There products are well presented and quality if fantastic, I urge you to go and take a look if only to see them up close and get to hear that awesome exhaust.

I got some bits! :o)

Fitting Notes:-

  1. Getting the door panel off is straight forward......Follow this link

  2. Once off you can see the single top torx screw for the handle

  3. The bottom part, the bit with the aluminium drum and window switches slides out on the front side but first....

On the rear you have to carefully cut a flap below the handle area be careful not to cut the electric window switch looms.

  4. You have to lift the flap and disconnect the looms mark them so you know which is driver and passenger.

  5. Release the window switches which are pushed into a housing, I used 2 butter knives shoved up either side of the switches to get them out.  This DOOR SWITCH PDF should help

  6. Once the switches are out of the housing ... this bit I cant remember... either the ally drum can be slid out with the door handle ....
or the switch housing must be dropped before the drum can be pulled.

  7. On the drivers door be very careful when pulling the switch drum as there are sharp bits and you can easily scratch the mirror switch panel.

  8. Once the drums are out then the handles can be replaced and reverse to refit.

Update: Roland at GTT acted on my request for a satin products and has produced a satin finish, still out of stainless steel, that looks fantastic.

Here you can see my hand DIY Satin but still shiny cover next to the new GTT one that looks fantastic.

Another use for a SkewDriver! :o)
If you understand that the TT is about design and texture and tactile response, than you will appreciate how this not only looks and feels good but the larger diameter makes you feel like you are operating some heavy machinery rather than simply pulling up a piece of plastic! I think its a great mod.
